Hosted at the home of Kristin Luu - 231 S. Arlington Ave., Elmhurst, IL

How do you rebuild communities during times of war?

Join us on June 28th as we welcome Doug & Marina Landro, key leaders with One Collective in Ukraine, for an evening together in Chicagoland. Together we’ll enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and get the chance to discuss some of the strategic work happening in Ukraine as war continues.

This evening is designed for those who, like you, care deeply about creating lasting change around the world. Our time together will be a rare chance to hear directly from leaders who understand the challenges of sustainable long-term work around the world - and we believe your voice and questions will add significant value to the discussion.

You’ll have the chance to ask questions about the realities of living and working in an active conflict zone - and you’ll get to hear about innovate solutions their team is developing. We hope you can join us!

About Work in Ukraine:

In October of 2020, Carpathian Homes was founded via seed capital from the One Collective alongside our Area Director, Doug Landro. Doug had spent over two decades living and working in Ukraine where he met his wife, Marina (a Ukrainian national) and raised their three children. The Landros work in Ukraine across more than 25 years has resulted in innumerable local partnerships and an intimate understanding of local needs and assets through an alliance of local organizations known as the Uzhhorod Alliance.

Fast forward to February 24, 2022 (now over 2 years ago), both construction skills and construction supplies reached peak levels of demand as the secure regions of the country began to rebuild. Our team’s focus of caring for internally displaced people (IDPs) throughout 2022 provided 550 beds across 11 facilities and provided critical care and housing for over 30,000 Ukrainians by providing food, shelter and spiritual care. Some of those IDPs remained in the area, others went on to become refugees across Europe, while others returned to rebuild from the rubble that was once their homes, and over a $1,000,000 US was deployed by One Collective during these times of relief to support our Ukrainian partners throughout that unthinkable hardship. But in 2023 our team’s focus shifted from relief to rebuild and we are now setting out to raise funds to scale our efforts on the supply side of our Ukrainian lumber business now known as STUD Homes. STUD provides lumber and truss manufacturing, both of which are in scarce supply across the country.

As we strive to meet this need in areas such as Uzhhorod and Apostolove, we’ve set our sites on the following goals:

  • 1,800 homes built over the next 10 years

  • 5,000 people housed

  • 20+ jobs sustained

  • Locally owned and operated by Ukrainians

  • $1.5M invested creates ~$15M in enterprise value, builds $50M worth of homes, creates $4M in annual revenue and gives back $100k a year in profits to local charities.

About One Collective:

One Collective is a global non-profit serving oppressed communities in over 40 countries around the world.

Local strategy begins in “Communities” which represent smaller-sized geographical locations (like a neighborhood of a city) and is led by leaders we call "Catalysts" who act like general contractors - working with local leaders to find solutions that bring together the needs and strengths of a specific community.

One Collective’s strategy is built from the ground up with sustainability in mind. Initiatives and projects are designed to integrate economic factors, emphasize community ownership, and reduce ongoing support.
