Fostering Missional Experiments

Movemental thinking as a catalyst for new ministry models

Upcoming Digital Workshop:

nOVEMBER 12, 2025

12 PM PST / 3 PM EST

The church in the West faces many difficult challenges in our current cultural moment. Perhaps most significantly, more segments of society are becoming estranged from church institutions, and the likelihood of reaching them is declining as the relevance gap grows. Fresh thinking and new paradigms are needed that bring Good News and Kingdom community to the unreached and those on the margins.

Our last webinar sought to demonstrate the need for new approaches, see how Jesus is a model for innovation, and consider a unique example in the U.K. This next digital workshop will offer insights for new ministry models drawn from disciple-making movements. After identifying foundational concepts, we’ll identify examples of strategic approaches. A discussion format will include time for you to share your own experiences and learn from others’ experiments.

Whether you’re a church leader looking for new ways to engage the unchurched in your community, or ministry leaders wanting to release God’s people into new outreach models, join this session with Wes Watkins, a global scholar on movements and the editor of Motus Dei: The Movement of God to Disciple the Nations. Wes serves as the Unreached Peoples Specialist for One Collective and is Assistant Professor of Missiology at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut.

Invite others on your team to participate and discover…

  • The inevitability but limitations of institutionalization,

  • What it could look like to try adaptive and reproducible models of church,

  • Micro-church strategies that could function alongside existing structures, and

  • Missional experiments that other churches are trying.
