Should All of God’s People Be Involved in His Global Mission?
Overcoming the obstacles to meaningful involvement for those who aren’t called to go
Upcoming Digital Workshop:
February 27, 2025
10 AM CST / 11 AM EST
Is Jesus’ mission among the nations relevant only for those who are called to live in a foreign context? The interconnectedness of today’s world presents unprecedented opportunities for Christ-followers to not only be informed but to be meaningfully involved in His work around the world. Nonetheless, the time demands of individuals and competing priorities for churches means it’s difficult to make the global impact that is possible today. Seeing churches become a family on mission requires that we creatively face obstacles and create new pathways for impactful participation in cross-cultural ministry.
Join us as we learn from two local church leaders--Bill Carroll and Jared Sorber--practitioners who are finding ways to build awareness, engagement and commitment within their congregations.
Bill Carroll is currently the Missions Pastor at Parkview Christian Church, a multisite-church serving the south suburbs of Chicago. Previously, Bill and his wife Rachel, planted and led a church in the center of Paris, France. Bill’s passion is to engage and challenge the local church to think and live globally.
Jared Sorber (PhD) is the Global Missions Pastor at Bridgeway Community Church in Columbia, MD, where he has served for 25 years. He is also a professor of Cross-cultural Dynamics and Global Ethics and recently started an organization called Cultural Curiosity to help individuals and organizations succeed cross-culturally. Jared loves crossing cultures and building friendships with people from all backgrounds.
