Vulnerability

Pray for Friends in the Far Middle East — Day 5

Vunerability

Family units here are extremely closely connected and spend tons of time together on a regular basis. That said, when my friends come to me with very vulnerable or deep questions and I ask if any wise family members have advice, the answer is almost always “I haven’t talked to anyone else about this and I can’t.” Because honor is such an important cultural value, many feel that they can’t share things they are struggling with with family members for fear of their image or reputation being affected. While it is a great honor to have such openness in relationships with local friends, the reality of them feeling that they can’t share deeply with their families is very sad.

Prayer Points for Today:

  • Pray that families could be vulnerable with each other.

  • Pray that the Spirit would guide conversations and give us wisdom in these vulnerable conversations with friends, that we would see their hearts and love them well.
