Marginalized/Vulnerable Communities

Pray for Transformation in Zora, Bulgaria — Day 1

About

The neighborhood of Zora is located just outside of the ring road around Stara Zagora. The population of roughly 5000 people have no pharmacy, no recreational space and no nearby police or emergency services. Local school is available only for grades 1 to 4--just one class each. Very few people live here because they choose to – most are here because they have few choices.

Prayer Points for Today:

  • Roma (negatively referred to as “gypsies”) make up the majority of residents. Pray for them to break out of the cycle of low education levels, poor health and lack of livable employment, which often go together in impoverished minority communities. Pray for initiatives that will support these efforts.

  • The second largest population is retirees, who live on a fixed income. Many have little contact with their younger relatives. Pray for activities that can offer connection and  instill self-esteem. Pray they realize that they still have something to give to society.

  • Pray for young Bulgarian families to not get caught up in trying to get out of the neighborhood, but see how they can fuel change among their neighbors.

  • Pray for donors of food stuffs because food insecurity is an issue for all three groups.
