In Calderón, a neighborhood on the north edge of Quito, you’ll find a project that was born to address some of the core problems youth face in this community every day. La Roca is a skate park made by skaters, for skaters - and it has become a place where the youth of Calderón find friendship, mentorship, purpose, and a new sense of identity.
Today, after 15+ years, their relationships are strong, a local team is in place, churches nearby are already invested and eager to walk alongside what God is doing here.
The only thing missing is a leader to help carry it forward…

For years, the skate community in Calderón was seen as a problem to manage rather than what it actually was: young leaders full of energy and initiative.
La Roca started as ramps and rails, and it became something else - a hub where young people gather to skate, and where plenty come simply to be somewhere welcoming, with no judgment waiting for them.
Alongside local churches, a team of local leaders and skaters has been changing the narrative, helping young people see their identity not as outcasts but as image-bearers of God with gifts worth sharing.
What began as a place to skate has become a launchpad for transformation - and the next season is ready to begin….
La Roca is ready to become a place that shapes an entire community- it’s just missing the right person to lead in this new season.
The opportunity on the table in Quito is to strengthen what’s already working and give it room to grow: connecting the movement to sustainable resources, mentoring young leaders who are ready to grow into responsibility, and deepening partnerships with churches who want to invest but need direction.
Local ownership is already here. What it needs now is the kind of leadership that turns momentum into something durable - systems, support, and a long-term vision that outlasts any one season.
La Roca is a launchpad - a rare trusted space in a neighborhood where and relationships are free to grow.
Young people come to La Roca every week, some to skate and some just to be part of something that welcomes them. That’s not a small thing in a place where many of them have spent years being treated as a problem. Doors that take most ministries years to open are already open here.
La Roca is not the answer to everything Calderón faces, but it is a front door - a place to build relationships, disciple young leaders, host the local church, and launch what comes next.
The groundwork has been laid and the doors are already open.
