Every week in north Quito, young people walk into a skate park called La Roca. They skate, they stay, they build relationships, and they find a community who cares about them.
It isn't complicated. La Roca is a safe place to belong - and it was created just for this purpose. 15 years later, this ministry is still growing.
Youth who found themselves here in the founding years are now leading programs each week, and the ministry is finding itself more integrated with the surrounding community too.
The only thing missing is a leader who will help take La Roca into its next chapter.

Chapter 01
How it started
For years, the skate community in Calderón was seen as a problem to manage rather than what it actually was: young leaders full of energy and initiative.
La Roca started as ramps and rails, and it became something else - a hub where young people gather to skate, and where plenty come simply to be somewhere welcoming, with no judgment waiting for them.
Alongside local churches, a team of local leaders and skaters has been changing the narrative, helping young people see their identity not as outcasts but as image-bearers of God with gifts worth sharing.
Chapter 02
Transformation today
La Roca is ready to become a place that shapes an entire community. It's just missing the right person to lead in this new season.
The opportunity on the table in Quito is to strengthen what's already working and give it room to grow: connecting the movement to sustainable resources, mentoring young leaders who are ready to grow into responsibility, and deepening partnerships with churches who want to invest but need direction.
What began as a place to skate has become a launchpad for transformation.
Local ownership is already here. What it needs now is the kind of leadership that turns momentum into something durable - systems, support, and a long-term vision that outlasts any one season.
Chapter 03
What's next?
La Roca is a rare, trusted space in a neighborhood where trust and relationships are free to grow.
Young people come to La Roca every week, some to skate and some just to be part of something that welcomes them. That's not a small thing in a place where many of them have spent years being treated as a problem. Doors that take most ministries years to open are already open here.
La Roca is not the answer to everything Calderón faces, but it is a front door - a place to build relationships, disciple young leaders, host the local church, and launch what comes next.
