Monthly Devo - Stepping into God’s Redemptive Story

Abraham Kuyper once wrote, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, ‘Mine!’”

In Acts 1:8. Jesus was not giving His disciples a mere mission strategy—He was revealing the scope of His reign. All places and all peoples.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus kept pulling back the curtain on God’s plan.

He did it in Matthew 28, sending His followers to all nations.

He did it in Luke 24, on the road to Emmaus as he opened up the disciple’s minds and their hearts burned within them. And again through Paul in Ephesians 1:9–10, God makes His will unmistakably clear:

“This is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.”

Everything.

Jesus is not just saving souls—He is reclaiming creation. He is restoring brokenness. He is healing people, cultures, and communities. And He invites us into that story.

Wherever we serve—whether in our own “Jerusalem” or in communities around the world—we are participating in a mission that touches the whole person: physical, social, emotional, and spiritual.

We don’t just work in communities. We step into the redemptive story God is writing—right where we are and to the ends of the earth.
