Early Marriage

Young marriage is common in Roma families, where girls often become very bound to the home, responsible for chores and childcare. They typically drop out of school, have children, and start families without financial stability or maturity. This cycle of poverty repeats as their dreams are overshadowed by daily struggles. Many of these marriages dissolve quickly, leading to broken families.

Prayer Points for Today:

• For authentic role models to rise up in the Roma context, providing positive examples in their relationships and marriages.

• For a transformed mindset such that young Roma would catch a vision of how God sees marriage and be willing to first complete their high school educations and become mature adults before making these lifetime commitments.

• That our discipleship meetings for children and youth would empower them to break out of the poverty cycle by making wise life choices.
