Pray for Caring for Vulnerable Women in San José, Costa Rica — Day 3
About
Maria was abused as a child. At a young age she was trafficked by her ex-boyfriend and threatened if she left. The majority of her life has been spent “working the streets” in prostitution, selling and doing drugs, and jail time. She also spent years involving others in prostitution. Maria was finally able to stop prostituting about 4 years ago when she found Casa Mint (one of our program partners) who then connected her with Casa Esperanza. At 56 years old, she started her successful bra sales business through Free The Girls (another partner program), graduating the program in 2024. Maria is an excellent saleswoman. Through hard work and a grant from Free the Girls, she has been able to complete critical repairs to make her home livable for her 2 daughters and 4 grandkids that live with her.
Maria continues to grow spiritually, see her psychologist, and volunteer her time at Casa Esperanza. She is also now the president of the board of Casa Mint. This allows her to help other women in vulnerable situations. Maria speaks of her redemption and transformation with all who will listen to how God has worked in her heart.
Prayer Points for Today:
Pray for the necessary resources and opportunities to be readily accessible to our women to make lasting change in their lives.
Pray for the women to believe in a hope for their future, to have the ability to dream, and to have the bravery to take the steps required to pursue it.
Jesus came to make all things new. Pray for holistic healing for the women: financial, emotional, physical, spiritual, relational.
