Community Center
Pray for Refugees in Thailand — Day 5
About
Amid the slums of the city, a few bright beacons of joy and growth stand out. In these places, refugee children have the chance to learn English and Thai, take part in youth development programs, enjoy meals or snacks, and even watch animated stories of Jesus in their language. Sadly, the main community center we were partnering with has recently been shut down by a local religious leader, who insists that only teachers of their faith may teach people of their faith. During a recent conversation between the religious leader and the community center leader, the sound of children crying in the background—pleading for their gathering place to be reopened—was a moving reminder of the center’s impact. Now, as the current community leader prepares to move on to work in Myanmar, we are praying for renewed access to the center and for a new leader to rise up and carry on this vital work.
Prayer Points for Today:
Pray for the reopening of the community center so refugee children can once again gather, learn, and grow in a safe and nurturing space.
Pray for a new, Spirit-led leader to take ownership of the center and continue its mission as the current leader moves to a new ministry location..
Pray for favor and understanding in ongoing conversations with local religious leaders, so access to the center is restored.
Pray for the children’s well-being and hope that they will continue to experience joy, learning, and the love of Jesus despite current setbacks.
Pray for persons of peace to open their homes for community development programs to take root and flourish.
Pray for the expansion of programs for adults, so they, too, can learn and hear about Jesus in transformative ways.
