Temporary Housing Shelters

Pray for Ukraine — Day 1

About Temporary Shelters:

Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, creating the largest flood of emigrants in Ukrainian history as families fled cities that were under attack. The Transform Uzhhorod Alliance formed the Ukraine Collective task force on the first day of the invasion, which grew to eleven partners providing temporary housing for 544 internally displaced people (IDPs). Today, the Ukraine Collective consists of nine of those partners with 323 beds. As of the writing of this prayer guide (Summer 2022), we are averaging 175 people each night in these shelters.

Pray for these nine partners who are all experiencing compassion fatigue after months of providing temporary shelter – Church of the Living God (Uzhhorod), Church of Jesus Christ, City of Life Church, New Hope Baptist Church, Uzhhorod Adventist Church, One Collective, Rainbow Family Homes, RD, and Isaiah 19

Prayer Points for Today:

  • Pray for the families who are staying in these centers. Pray for their safety, comfort, and, most importantly, their salvation as our partners share the love of Jesus with them in word and deed.
  • Pray for the children, especially in these centers, who are living in fear of their future.
  • Pray for the many volunteers who provide trauma first aid to these children. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them what to say and not to say to these children. Pray for them as they also are experiencing compassion fatigue.
  • Pray for the resources these churches and ministries require to continue serving these IDP families. Pray for the resources of heaven to be unleashed.
