Trauma First Aid

Pray for Ukraine — Day 4

About Trauma First Aid:

When IDPs first arrived at our centers in 2022, the parents were still under shock and the children had blank stares as they felt a loss of hope for the future. It was apparent early on that we needed to help these children. First, we opened a youth recreational center with volunteers who would provide trauma first aid.  In the summer, our partner RD held four camps for over 200 IDP children.  And then in September, we partnered with Wheaton College Graduate School and Uzhhorod National University to provide training in trauma first aid.

Prayer Points for Today:

  • Pray for the children. Many have seen bombs drop around them, spent days in bomb shelters, witnessed their homes being destroyed, and have even lost a parent in the war.
  • Pray for the parents. Many of them are separated as the women have fled Ukraine with their children leaving their husbands behind who are not allow to leave the country. Many mothers are left alone to console their children while the men feel helpless.
  • Pray for our volunteers who are susceptible to compassion fatigue after months of serving IDP families.
  • Pray for our volunteers that they will be led by the Holy Spirit to say what needs to be said and not to say that which can be harmful.
  • Pray for the dozens of children who came to Christ over the summer at our camps that they will continue to grow in their new faith.
