Longer-Term Housing
Pray for Ukraine— Day 7
About Temporary Shelters:
As more and more families decided to stay in Uzhhorod, we needed to get them out of our temporary shelters and provide longer-term housing. It was not safe for the children to be living in close quarters with strangers. Nor was it sanitary to continue sleeping on mattresses on the floor in conditions that lacked showers and washing machines. Our first step in this direction was to convert two of our centers into private rooms with shared facilities. We have now begun to build tiny homes for families. The first is the Huta IDP Community which consists of four homes that will house sixteen people. This project is fully funded. Our second project is the Velyki Lazy IDP Community which will consist of 18 homes and a clubhouse where we will also plant a church in the village which has no evangelical witness. And our third project is the completion of a Christian camp in which we will build the cabins to house IDP families during the war.
Prayer Points for Today:
- Pray for the funds to build the Velyki Lazy IDP Community and the RD Camp and Retreat Center which will provide homes for 25 families (96 people).
- Pray for the families that will live in these homes and for the volunteers who will share the love of Jesus with them in word and deed. Pray that many of them will come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Pray for the safety of the IDP families in our IDP communities. Pray for safety from crime, sickness, and effects of the war.
- Pray for our builder’s safety as they construct these homes. Pray for volunteers and short-term teams to help build these homes. And pray that these homes will bring glory to Jesus.
- Pray for the impact these homes will have on Ukraine long after the war is gone. Campers will be staying in them at the RD Camp and Retreat Center, and the tiny homes will be used as BnBs to raise funds to transform the city of Uzhhorod and assist the oppressed.
