Impact Updates from Around the World - March
Take a quick trip around the world with us and catch a glimpse of what God is doing through One Collective communities.
Ohio: We're growing! The newest One Collective community launched this fall in Akron, Ohio. A One Collective couple that had previously been serving in the Middle East have relocated to Akron to serve the refugee population. They will be primarily working with refugees from Afghanistan and collaborating with local churches and nonprofits.
Middle East: Girls on the court! The team in this Middle Eastern community is launching a new sports academy for children 5 - 18 years old. They will use basketball skill development & games as a way to connect with kids and parents. This is an exciting development especially for young girls who culturally have little opportunity for sports programs.
Illinois: Welcome Juan Cisneros who is the new Catalyst leading the Elgin, IL team. Juan was studying to be a Pastor when he learned about the open Catalyst role with One Collective. He embraced the opportunity to share his love for Jesus with the Elgin community. One Collective Elgin's ministry focus is on serving the homeless population. They are currently collaborating with local churches, government, and nonprofits to staff a warming shelter for homeless Elgin residents open through March 15. The team is hosting a Community 5K to raise awareness and support.
England: Wheaton College in Illinois invited Lola Chapman to be the featured speaker at their Missions In Focus Conference last week. Lola shared three entertaining and inspiring Chapel talks that highlighted their ministry “The Jungle” in Cowley, a community in Oxford, England. The Jungle is their ministry hub in a shopping center. Watch Lola’s plenary talk from the conference -where she shares about the Jungle below.
Honduras/Kenya/Asia: On February 7th, three OC communities hosted an event honoring people with special needs and disabilities. Guests were celebrated as true kings and queens made in God’s image, full of dignity, honor and value. A few of our teams around the world including Honduras hosted Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine evangelistic prom type event. The team in Kenya hosted a similar event. Many thanks to the volunteers, donors and church partners that made these events a special evening for the 500+ participants! View the recap videos below!
These are just a few snapshots of what God is doing across the globe. Thanks so much for reading!
