The Ways of Jesus

Monthly Devotional

What do you think about when Jesus comes to mind? His compassion for the broken hearted, or his provision for the needy? His commitment to the truth, and his grace? Maybe it’s how he taught us a new way to live. A way to live like heaven was already here. His death and his resurrection and the forgiveness of sins? A.W. Tozer said that what comes to mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us.

We work so that no one is invisible and everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. You’ve probably seen or heard this if you’ve been partnering with One Collective for any amount of time. This is our passion statement; it is what drives us. As apprentices of Jesus, we look to Him to show us how and what to do.

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. - Colossians 1:15-20

Jesus provides us the clearest picture of who God is. Jesus was God in flesh and His ways and works provide the foundation for what we do and how we go about it. His wounds provide the power and the access to join Him in his mission to reconcile himself to all things.

Jesus is the key to transformation. As we follow Him into communities around the world, we look to Him to show us the way to live and engage people.  We invite people into this Jesus journey, because it is in believing in Jesus and following Him where real transformation occurs. If it is truly Jesus-transformation, it will touch every aspect of lives and communities, so that no one is invisible and everyone has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness.
